Evil Geniuses will go into their Monday, April 24 VCT fixture against league leaders LOUD wondering what else they needed to do to get a win against FURIA.

The North Americans gave their all, including a sharp Jett ace from Max “Demon1” Mazanov, but it was not enough for them on Saturday, April 22, in the VCT Americas division in a closely contested three-map series.

Both squads were tied on Ascent, but FURIA used the overtime to step up and made up with two attack round wins and a successful defense which achieved them a 15-13 in the opener.

Leonardo “mwzera” Serrati and Matheus “Mazin” Araújo contributed to 46 kills, with mwzera ending the game just shy of 200 ADR. Ethan Arnold helped EG hit back on Fracture with an 8-4 attack and a 21-11, 11 assists. Kelden “Boostio” Pupello (22-14, 212 ADR), forced a third map.

The first half ended with Evil Geniuses edging out FURIA 7-5 before FURIA posted five rounds consecutively to turn the heat on. Demon1, up until that point, had little to no contribution to the game, stepped up at Haven and activated Jett’s Blade Storm, and swung out to face the B corridor.

He threw three blades quickly with precision finding their mark with all three throws as he wiped out FURIA’s plans for the round. That effectively ended FURIA’s round streak.

Demon1 continued his kill streak and hunted down FURIA’s remaining two. FURIA hit back, but EG went ahead to win the follow-up rounds with a hope of a comeback, but the Brazilians had other plans and put an end to such hopes, wiping out EG in regulation 13-10 to win the series.

EG are now ninth in the standings with a 1-3 record, with their next game against LOUD coming on Monday, April 24.
