VALORANT and Counter-Strike Major fans would enjoy peak of the rivalry between tactical first person shooters with Counter-Strike Major and VALORANT Masters tournaments happening in overlap of each other with matches to be broadcast on the same day.
The PGL Copenhagen Major is historic as the first ever Major to be played since the release of Counter-Strike 2, with 19 Majors played in CS:GO over the course of 10 years previously. Similarly, the VALORANT Masters Madrid will see VCT teams enter into partnership for the championships. The competition could also see record-breaking numbers compared to the Champions.
No Major and an international VALORANT tournament hasn’t overlapped each other since the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the start of VALORANT, both games have been intertwined to each other. There have been discussions comparing the games and their similarities and differences, while pro players have also been switching between games.
Both events have always seen teams utilize purchasable in-game items to help their respective games. The Counter-Strike Majors sees Team and player stickers as a big part of the ecosystem, with huge money brought in from stickers, something that has continued to increase in recent years.
VALORANT only introduced an In-game VCT bundle this year for stickers, and Madrid could see the teams drive sales and acceptance even further. The early parts of each event this year will see a few events overlap with the end of the VALORANT Masters Swiss stage and the start of the first CS2 Major Swiss stage on March 17 and 18.
The other part will be when the VALORANT Masters playoffs go up against the second CS2 Major Swiss stage. This will be between March 21 and March 24, as Europe welcomes both with the possibility that both events will see matches take place at the same time.
