This week Cloud9 has posted a lot of farewell messages on their social media pages as the organization seems to be in the process of dropping its entire Dota 2 roster. One of their most recent farewell announcements was on October 12 as they announced the exit of Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko on social media.
The organization appreciated the player by saying goodbye to the departing No[o]ne. No[o]ne, despite once admitting that he wanted to move away from the world in video games, has instead displayed his immense talent and dedication to the world.
On Monday, October 14, Cloud9 released another farewell post thanking and saying goodbye to Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin.
“How do we say goodbye to a literal ray of sunshine? Thank you, DM, for being an incredible player and an even better person. We’re proud to have had you as a teammate and can’t wait to see what’s next!” stated C9’s social media.
Already, the organization has seen some moves happen since Sperm with Vladislav “Kataomi`” Semenov’s moving to BetBoom at the end of September while Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov’s just moved to Gaimin Gladiators this October. With Fishman also gone, the only player left seem to be Dzmitry “Fishman” Palishchuk although he is expected to exit the team before the end of this week or perhaps have a brand new organization built around him.
All of these are happening despite the fact that the organization finished The International 2024 in the top six and it is unclear yet if C9 will continue in Dota 2. However, with the organization having a history of going in and out of Dota 2 at any opportunity, the latest development isn’t surprising.
Cloud9 joined the game for the first yime in 2014, making a few rosters before leaving in 2015. Two years later the organization returned in 2017, for TI7, with an all-Dane squad the Danish Bears, although they were dropped immediately after the event.
