The aftermath of the big story late Monday that one of Esports’ biggest organizations, Counter Logic Gaming, will shut off its e-gaming with mass layoffs expected this week has seen players under the organization come out to show their displeasure.

CLG is expected to sell off all its eSports teams and league rosters starting with the North American company’s CLG on Thursday. However, the 2023 league team will remain just temporarily, with the LCS slot expected to be sold.

Los Angeles-based organization NRG Esports is the lead body trying to purchase CLG. The organization last competed in the LCS in 2016 and also has a slot in Riot Games-organized VCT Americas VALORANT league.

Expectedly, the next few days will be tough for players who are on the organization’s CS:GO, VALORANT, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Super Smash Bros., and League rosters.

Female CS:GO player for CLG Red Marissa “madss” Dasta said she was heartbroken and that It was a really hard day. Veterans like Stephanie “missharvey” Harvey, Catherine “CAth” Leroux, and Benita “bENITA” Novshadian are also in the CLG Red team. The CLG Red has been in existence since 2015.

Madison Square Garden, the parent company and controller of CLG, wants to sell off the brand or shut it down if it can’t get the desired deal.

Thursday, April 6 is expected to be the day the exodus will start at CLG, but there aren’t signs that CLG’s teams in CS:GO, Fortnite, Apex Legends, VALORANT, and Super Smash Bros have admirers and organizations who want to take over.

Some of the CLG players who will be affected by the news of the sale and have reacted to the news include League players Niship “Dhokla” Doshi and Juan “Contractz” Garcia and Super Smash Bros. player James “VoiD” Makekau-Tyson.
