Cloud9’s performance at the voting process of the League’s All-Pro Voting has seen the organization sit on the top spot and eventually win the LCS’ coaching staff of the split award for the 2023 Spring Split.

This is after one week of retaining the top spot even though 100 Thieves, CLG, FlyQuest, and Golden Guardians all also got first-place votes.

C9 moved past FlyQuest to secure the top position in the LCS, standing in the second part of the Spring Split. This was after winning seven from eight matches which helped them get a top seed for the LCS playoffs. Furthermore, the team needed a tiebreaker for first place before securing the playoffs.

C9’s Mithy winning the award is the first time as the head coach of the organization, and the win is also coming in his second tenure as the head coach. Mithy was the coach of C9 in 2021 before moving to 100 Thieves in 2022.

Coincidentally, Mithy was in charge when the franchise won the coaching staff of the split in spring of 2021. He was also assisted by VeigarV2 then. VeigarV2 returned to C9 with Mithy in 2023, and they, alongside TailsJJ, helped C9 to succeed.

Furthermore, Positional coaches Armao (jungle) and Selfie (mid)—former pro players themselves—were also recognized by the league.

C9 managed a 11-3 record, but one of the key to success was bringing in mid-laner Jang “EMENES” Min-su for Dimitri “Diplex” Ponomarev. C9 are close to a move into the LCS Spring Split finals needing just a series win.

The franchise will face FlyQuest on Thursday, and they will move through if they beat FlyQuest in the second-round best-of-five.

A win will secure a spot in Raleigh, North Carolina, where they will be joined by the lower bracket playoffs winner in the grand finale.
