After six tries, Astralis got its maiden victory of the 2023 LEC Winger Split on Monday after beating a disappointing Excel ESports team. Astralis needed just over half an hour to dispatch any attempt by Excel to turn their recent unfortunate run of form at the 2023 LEC season.

Astralis were in impeccable form, which is different from their recent sluggish and poor run at the LEC Winter Split. Astralis had a 22 to 6 kill advantage and eight tower advantage to one by the period they were done with Excel’s Nexus.

Astralis got first blood after three minutes but didn’t trail Excel all through the game in gold. The result leaves both teams at 1-5, and joint last in the LEC as the competition enters the final weekend of the regular season with the group stage coming up.

Both teams stand a slim chance of moving into the group stage of the competition with the new LEC format, as they sit in ninth and tenth; only the top 8 teams move into the group stage.

The next schedule of games favours Astralis, who will avoid the three teams that are tied at the top of the LEC standing with two games against teams who have 0.500 mark.

Excel are on a three-game losing streak, but they will hope to end that streak when they face Team Heretics on Saturday, February 4. Like Astralis, Excel will need a perfect 3-0 to close out the single round-robin split.

Elsewhere, Josh “steel” Nissan has stated that he won’t stop playing Competitive FPS games soon despite the fact that the majority of his peers have diverted to other forms like coaching, content, and analysis, among others.

“I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. Unless I’m forced to stop because I break my hand or I just don’t have enough time to keep up with practicing mechanics, I want to keep competing, and I’d only look at transitioning out when I know I’m no longer capable of competing at a higher level.” Steel said.

Disguised steel, who is currently the in-game leader for Disguised VALORANT, has been active for over ten years.
