Astralis CS:GO has made a stunning move after sending legendary Danish CS:GO rifler Xyp9x to the Astralis academy in a bid to accommodate youngster Alexander “Altekz” Givskov.
Astralis made this known on Tuesday in a statement days after reports filtered that Altekz will enter the main roster after disappointing showings at the BLAST Paris Major Europe RMR B. Their poor performance meant that the team would not be at the last CS:GO Major next month.
However, the development doesn’t mean the end of Xyp9x participation in the team, as it has also been said that he will continue to switch roles with Altekz in the coming periods.
Xyp9x demotion is not a surprising development, as he was the player with the lowest rating in the main team in 2023 alongside in-game leader gla1ve.
In an interview with Astralis media, Xyp9x voiced his disappointment as regards the failure of the team to make the Major and says he will play his part to ensure that the team returns to the top irrespective of whatever it takes, including playing in the academy team.
“People close to me know that I am a team player, and even though I am now taking a break from the A team, I will always be ready to help the organization and the team that I have been a part of since the very beginning. There are many talented players on the talent team, and I look forward to helping them. I hope, of course, that my experience and knowledge from countless large international tournaments can lift the players even.” Xyp9x said.
Altekz’s first game for Astralis’ main team will be at the online tournament Brazy Party, which will feature ENCE, BIG, OG, and Eternal Fire. Xyp9x will also be in action early Wednesday morning for his first Astralis Talent game.
