Chinese Dota 2 star Wang “Ame” Chunyu is returning to competitive Dota just after a year off. Ame said he was taking a break, but he is returning to fight for the Aegis of Champions.

However, his time with LGD Gaming’s banner has ended after seven years and for the first time in his career, he won’t be playing under a version of LGD Gaming’s banner.

Xtreme Gaming’s Weibo revealed via their page that the organization has reached an agreement to sign Ame from LGD’s inactive roster. Long-time support players Dy and Ame are the only ones on the team’s lineup.

Ame’s eight-year duration in professional gaming has been at LGD either in a playing capacity or otherwise since March 2015 when he was at one of LGD’s developmental rosters, the CDEC Youth banner, before the jump to LGD-proper in September 2016.

Even though he had a brief stint with CDEC Gaming’s main lineup in 2020, he is a big part of whatever success that LGD has managed to record. He played five TIs and finished in the top five on each occasion and also ended up in second place in twice.

Many believed that LGD would fail to do well in the absence of Ame when he announced that he would be taking a break after another failed run at the Aegis at The International 2022.

However, the organization was able to put together young talent on a new roster, as they eventually managed to finish at the podium at TI12 with a third-place finish.

For XG, they have a chance to build a roster around Ame with a potential reunion with former teammates Somnus, Chalice, and fy, who left Azure Ray in November are, starting to look pretty juicy.
