Team BDS may have gone out of the 2024 LEC Winter Playoffs, but controversy continues in their League of Legends division despite aiming for glory on the European scene. The team made a drastic decision just before playing the deciding series against MAD Lions KOI.
The team’s starting top laner, Adam, was benched right before the series against MAD Lions KOI on the grounds of indiscipline and behavioral issues. Reports say that the 22-year-old top laner has behavioral issues and toxicity towards his teammates and staff at BDS.
Adam was only promoted to the starting roster at the start of 2023, but it has been a rocky ride as there was always an issue with Adam and the rest of his teammates.
Initially, Adams was removed from the main roster due to what BDS tagged as unforeseen reasons, and they made an emergency substitution as Riot allowed.
However, there have been revelations that Adams was removed due to other reasons like leaving scrims and tilting team practices. Furthermore, there have been clashes and arguments between him and his fellow teammates and coaches throughout his time in the lineup.
A reported clash between him and his head coach, Yanis “Striker” Kella, also led to his benching. However, on Saturday, Adam released a public statement to deny some publications that accused him, although he admitted he had anger issues and a discussion led to him being benched while also apologizing to his teammates and coaches on social media.
“I don’t agree with the accusations that in my career, I’ve shown signs of mockery and insults and that I was mostly disrespectful to my teammates. I have anger problems, and this was the point I needed to work on most of my side for this year. I don’t agree with the way the article turned out, inevitably making me look like someone I’m not. I try to be a better human being every day, and that’s why BDS has chosen to continue with me this year because the monster described in this article is simply not me.” he said.
