The greatest esports player of all time, arguably, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok has reached yet another milestone after he added another trophy to his cabinet after he was awarded PC Player of the Year for the second year consecutively at the eSports Awards.
Faker, who only became world champion recently, was voted the winner of the PC Player of the Year ahead of Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, CS2 star Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, and fellow mid lane rival Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon.
Unfortunately, Faker wasn’t in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to collect the award, but it was collected on his behalf by his T1 CEO Joe Marsh, who was in attendance in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to accept the award before presenting a video message from Faker himself. Joe Marsh seized the opportunity to enumerate the issues that Faker had to scale through to win the award this year.
In the video message, Faker appreciated everyone who has supported his decade-old career for their continued support while promising to keep doing better. Faker’s injury in 2023 forced him to sit out the 2023 LCK Summer Split in 2023, which subsequently translated to T1’s struggles in the LCK in 2024, a situation that had Faker concerned on the sidelines.
The year 2024 has been great for T1 and Faker after the former won the League of Legends World Championships back-to-back for the second time in their history. For Faker, who played an instrumental part, he won his fifth title.
In what has been a turbulent season both physically and mentally for the player and the organization, T1 and Faker went on to lift the championship, besting the biggest names and players in the esports with the likes of TenZ, m0nesy, and Chovy also doing well in their respective categories and challenging Faker in 2024 for the right to the best players in the year.
