European giants G2 Esports have completed a comeback to secure a place to in the BLAST R6 Major Montreal Phase 2. G2 Esport defeated Japanese roster CAG Osaka and Black Dragons.

G2 emerged victorious with wins on Kafe Dostoyevsky and Consulate. Although the samurais managed an initial upset against CAG Osaka, the European powerhouse ended up completing a comeback against the Japanese roster following victories on Kafe Dostoyevsky and Consulate. Karl “Alem4o” Zarth was the MVP on the first day of play-in action in Montreal with a rating of 1.47.

G2’s win against CAG Osaka was followed by the game against Black Dragons for a place in Montreal’s Phase 2, on the cards for the victorious team. G2 went on to pick the win with identical wins on Consulate and Lair.

G2 Esports started on the back foot on Consulate as Black Dragons took a 5-1 start before it was neutralized by G2 Esports with a flawless defensive half for a 7-5 win.

They went on overtime on Lair after going 1-5 down to put up an interesting and impressive attacking display Shortly after, the European-majority roster did the same on Lair, as they forced the map’s overtime despite switching sides while being 1-5 down. Eventually, G2 Esports won the map and secured a Montreal Phase 2 spot.

The Lair had a total of three rounds of wins for attacking sides before the overtime, from a possible 24. At the end of that actual Lair’s overtime, attackers won the three rounds.

Similarly, Team Falcons also qualified for Montreal’s Phase 2 after the roster beat ALPHA Team and the Chiefs. There are still two more slots to be filled as more rosters will follow the footsteps of G2 Esports and Team Falcons’ steps. There are four play-in teams to be sorted in the BLAST R6 Major Montreal.
