This year’s edition of the Thunder pick WC has finally gotten a winner after The MongolZ managed a 3:1 series win to claim the $500,000 cash prize. The qualification campaign kicked off as far back as April.

The MongolZ started the series strongly after each teams went at each other, picking up the opener while Heroic bounced back immediately. The MongolZ immediately picked the third map Anubis with a 13:11 win and with a trend of teams winning the third map of a best-of-five Grand Final often closing out the series easily, The MongolZ were in good places.

Fortunately, their opponents, Heroic, completely fell behind and lost steam as The MongolZ took Mirage 13:2 to win the grand final of the Thunderpick WC 2024 CS2 tournament.

The MongolZ’s biggest asset in the tournament is the fragging output of their IGL, bLitz. BLitz showed his strength all through the series as he managed 68 kills in the Grand Final and also managed to emerge the joint-top in the server alongside Senzu. In comparison, Heroic’s IGL, kyxsan, only managed 40 kills across four maps.

Slowly but gradually The MongolZ have had a successful 2024 and crowned it with the Thunderpick World Championship while they continued to show themselves as one of the best CS2 teams in the world currently.

Meanwhile, the head coach of Bilibili Gaming (BLG) BigWei has taken their recent loss in the Worlds 2024 to T1 as a lesson. BLG lost to T1 at the weekend and BigWei apologized to the fans for the disappointing result.

“I’m sorry to all the fans who are cheering for us or the LPL. Even though we got to two international finals this year, we weren’t able to take the wins so I think I have a big responsibility as the team’s coach. I hope after today that everyone doesn’t go down in the dumps and we can learn from this year’s journey and experience to improve and become better.” BigWei said.
