The North American League of Legends esports scene has seen a major shakeup, with 100Thieves making a big move, depending on how you look at it. The organization will still play in the region next year, but it will not retain its franchise slot in the newly formed League of Legends Championship.
100Thieves has sold its LTA franchise slot in a disappointing move for its fans who grew with the team when they started and became a major force in the North American region. Now they have sold to Riot Games while the rising team Disguised will enter the League as a guest team.
The team will be a provisional for the first season of LTA in the year 2025 but they won’t be eligible for postseason promotion meaning that they will end their journey in the League’s highest competitive scene by the end of 2025.
The introduction of Disguised into the LTA North has given a bit of excitement as the fans look forward to seeing the newcomers in action. The roster, which was put together by popular streamer Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang, ran through the ranks of the North American Challengers League, and they have managed to build a strong identity and fandom.
They will be up against the biggest teams and the powerhouses on the main stage. They could also create some new rivalries along the way within the League next year but the major target will be toward securing a permanent spot in the 2026 season.
Meanwhile, teams from the former LCS, CBLOL, and LLA will be unified into a single league by the LTA, with two conferences and a new format. These changes will definitely put fans on their toes ahead of the 2025 LTA season that will kick off Jan. 25 2025 as new participants takes the place of the departed storied team.
