After 3DMAX’s progress to the next stage of Thunderpick WC 2024 from Group A days back, another exciting result has emerged from the online Counter-Strike event.
This time Group B occupants The MongolZ, Cloud9, Fnatic, and 9z Team fought for slots in the next round. The MongolZ were favorites for the neutrals to move through to the next round from the Thunderpick WC 2024 Group B.
The team did it in style, though, after moving past the group stage without dropping a map. The route to that feat wasn’t smooth and easy as they faced Cloud9, and the MongolZ won both maps, finishing 13:11.
The next game was against Fnatic, with 13:11 and 13:7 scores which shows that The MongolZ worked hard for their wins, which secured them a spot in the next round reward.
All the players of The MongolZ came to the party and played their parts and covered for the only player who struggled to get into the matches, Techno. Techno was subpar but the rest like The MongolZ’s IGL bLitz in scintillating form.
The MongolZ are now set for the Playoffs Play-in for the CS2 tournament, giving them a chance to seal a spot in November’s Thunderpick WC 2024 LAN event.
Meanwhile, Cloud9 survived the first round by the skin of their teeth after their loss in their first game against The MongolZ which left them on the brink of elimination. They faced 9z Team for a chance to revive their survival chances and it looked like a tough task as the team have had a great 2024, and a Semi-Final berth at IEM Dallas 2024.
However, The MongolZ pipped them in the series in a fast 2:0 on Mirage and Anubis. Cloud9’s presence in the competition at this time is partly thanks to the efforts of Israeli rifler HeavyGod after he posted a 44:22 statline.
