After a disappointing Call of Duty League campaign with Carolina Royal Ravens, Call of Duty veteran Clayster left the organization and moved into free agency. The veteran made his decision public on Sunday, July 7.
The Royal Ravens took to social media platform X to announce the departure of the 32-year-old, describing him as an icon of the scene and a driving force behind their season while also appreciating him for his time.
The player replied on his own separately after the organization’s post that he had a lot to say but chose to be silent about it, although he admitted that he has to be more selfish and play better if he wants to keep his spot on the teams.
In the same vein, he revealed that he was open to non-playing roles, especially after he lamented just days after the Major Four, where he had initially hinted at his exit, saying he’s been spending so much time and energy on something that isn’t yielding any results.
However, he didn’t deny his love for the game and his love for playing professionally. This move comes after Carolina almost instantaneously exited the Major Four in Burbank, California, after struggling in the Major Four qualifiers.
The team had a slow start, and they quickly found themselves in a lower bracket for the main event. They then lost to Toronto Ultra 3-0 in the first round to put a swift end to their season.
Clayster’s two-year stay with Carolina and his fourth spell in the CDL weren’t enough to earn a top-four place at the top-flight CoD competition.
The next CDL Championships will be in Texas, starting on July 17. Clayster will have to secure a place in a CDL roster. Otherwise, he must get a place ahead of the Esports World Cup, which will happen in mid-August.
