In a bid to improve its League of Legends game, Riot Game had a plan and worked on adding player titles to the game. However, the plan and the design itself didn’t see the light of the day after tests.

Riot Games developer said that during the tests, the player’s titles got in the way pretty badly. The developer revealed this in a Reddit thread where the developer was answering a player who advised that the developers try to get an additional sense of merit in the game’s features as well as the possibility of showing Challenger titles.

In their response, Riot Game revealed that they had tried adding it to the screen features, but they termed it a cursed problem that only cluttered the team, leaving them no options other than to abandon the idea.

“We tried having them fade in combat, but them coming in and out became distracting,” Riot said.

Furthermore, they revealed that that was not the only thing they explored; other means that would allow players to show off through emotes, but it wasn’t followed through as it didn’t give as much emotional significance as they wanted.

Nevertheless, they revealed that this wouldn’t stop them from finding a way for players to display achievements as more features to give new ways for players to display their achievements and offer them a sense of merit will still be rolled out on League.

Challenge Tokens were added in May 2023 to League profiles to give players the opportunity to track their progress for Challenges, with a choice of three tokens at a time displayed on the profile.

Players did complain about some features, especially the multi-disenchant feature, which was considered unpredictable in its design, forcing the developer to address the issue. They have also put the players through some of the decision processes, which made the developer design the feature, which they have now simplified in order to launch it alongside the upcoming Essence Emporium event on Aug. 30.
