LCS has revealed the 2023 Summer Split MVP, and they have chosen from North America’s youthful pool, with Evil Geniuses’ franchise mid-laner Jojopyun earning his first career LCS MVP award.

The announcement was made on Thursday as the 18-year-ols in just his second season becomes the youngest player to win the award like Bjergsen did in 2014.

It’s a piece of celebration for Evil Geniuses who have not had many things to celebrate in a hugely disappointing season. It’s also not entirely surprising as Jojopyun has been the team’s only stability in a season littered with on and off-the-stage controversies for the organization.

For example, EG dropped its entire roster at the midway point of the season, the roster that the majority of the players who helped the team to their first World Championship since returning to the LCS, with Jojopyun, the only player that survived the restructuring.

Jojopyun proved his worth in one split, and EG has decided to rebuild around him as he has either ranked first or second in CS per minute, damage Percentage, kill participation, and DPM among all qualified North American mid-laners. All this earned him his second career All-Pro team this summer.

Unfortunately, Jojopyun and EG will not represent NA at the Worlds this season, but they can aim for next season with the youngster in the middle of the rebuilding process.

The player who went from a hyped rookie to the MVP of the league in two seasons is worth keeping, and with him being contracted to EG till 2024, there is no better time to build on a solid foundation come November when free agency starts.

Meanwhile, according to the LoL global contract database, Jojopyun’s EG teammates will run out of contract at the end of the current season.
