After one week of getting booted out of Cloud9’s starting roster, Russian CS:GO captain Vladislav “Nafany” Gorshkov has expressed his feelings about the events that saw him leave the organization.
The 22-year-old was removed to accommodate former NAVI stars electroNic and Perfecto on July 14, and he has stated that he never felt upset about the development. He said this during a live stream after his removal from C9.
The team who left Gambit for C9 in April last year failed to meet expectations, as their only impressive record was when they finished second-place finish in ESL Pro League season 17 in March.
Other events have been unimpressive at C9, so bad that it has seen Nafany’s stock dropped despite the fact that he was once considered one of the most promising CS:GO in-game leaders.
Despite his status, his relationship with star players sh1ro and Ax1Le, the third and fourth-best players in the world in 2022, affected his focus and made him struggle in his role as an in-game leader.
“I was not really a leader; our relationship did not allow that. We got too used to each other. We started our careers on the same level and were continuing on the same level. My opinion did not matter more than sh1ro’s, for example. More often, it was even the opposite. If sh1ro was saying that he doesn’t want to play on some position, I couldn’t say, ‘No, you have to play here.'” Nafany said.
The three players have been under the Gambit Youngsters banner since June 2019 and also rose through the ranks together, but their friendship has come in the way of some important decisions that could have helped them on C9 with Nafany unable to make his voice authoritative.
Despite this, Nafany refused to lay the blame on sh1ro and Ax1Le for not honoring his leadership roles and that there’s no bad blood between any of them either.
