Sentinels may enter the Americas Last Chance Qualifier with a big gamble as the team looks at the possibility of placing TenZ on Reyna, which will make it the first time that any team from the Americas region has picked her all year.

While that may come as a shock, as it’s not the first time that the Sentinels would be making a huge gamble in the 2023 VALORANT season and campaign, it is a surprise that they are going for a player who has been avoided by others.

The addition of the TenZ may have been predictable as her addition came a day after she posted a question on Twitter and asked, “When will Reyna be meta in pro play again?”. A response came from coach Kaplan when he tweeted, “Reyna.”

Kaplan and the streamer for 100 Thieves, Kyedae, had more discussion about the scenario as TenZ’s partner pointed to the time Paper Rex brought TenZ to join them during their playoff run in VCT Pacific.

The team brought Reyna into their Bind composition, and she helped them record wins in all three times played, with two of the games coming against DRX. It didn’t stop there, as Paper Rex also added Reyna to their Ascent composition.

However, on Ascent, they narrowly lost 14-12 to DRX, and with TenZ practicing recently in the prolific duelist, it may come in handy for Sentinels. Meanwhile, despite Reyna’s popularity, she isn’t always picked, especially in VCT competition.

Similarly, she was picked twice at both LOCK//IN and Masters Tokyo she was picked just twice, and across all three VCT Americas, EMEA, and Pacific seasons, she was picked only twice.

One of the reasons she’s often sidelined is due to the fact that her abilities don’t often help teammates rake in kills and a couple of other shortcomings in her kit at the pro level. Furthermore, the only offensive ability she has is the Leer which can also be destroyed easily.
