Vitality won their first big title at the IEM Rio in front of an arena crowd on Sunday after beating Heroic 2-0 in a tournament they totally dominated.
The final win wouldn’t have been possible without the impressive comeback in the semifinal against Cloud9, and with that out of the way, the focus will now be on the BLAST Major.
In the final, Vitality went with Vertigo, the same ground they got their surprising result in the semifinal against Cloud9. The team didn’t wait for a comeback as they took charge from the start with an early 7-1 lead before winning 8-7 in the first half in a context that went close in the end.
Magisk rose to the top of the chart as Vitality strengthened its defense after Heroics 9-11, showing which was the best they got. Vitality’s in-game leader, apex, had a 0.2 rating and a 13-19 K/D in the first map only to deliver a standout individual performance alongside ZywOo’s high-caliber AWPing.
This combination got a comfortable 10-5 lead on the CT side and put Vitality in the lead for the series.
Meanwhile, Cloud9 VALORANT pro has been fined for explicit content s on VCT broadcast. Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro was fined by Riot Games after doing a sexual gesture in the game against NRG on April 23.
The player revealed what transpired on his live stream after the game after he was filmed making a sexual gesture that was immediately cut away.
“Listen, I got a fine; I can’t say how much. Let’s just say that. The 10k is there to just be 10k. [I got fined] for air-sucking d*ck.” Zellsis said.
