12 teams collide as Play-In Round 1 set to go in 2017 Worlds
The third seeds of the top leagues headline the dozen teams who will clash in the Play-in Round 1 in the 2017 World Championship in China.
LPL’s Team WE, NA LCS’ Cloud 9, EU LCS’ Fnatic and LMS’ HK Attitude are favoured to win the opening round and reach the main group stages, where the top seeds of the world are already waiting.
WE is with Gambit.CIS and Lyon Gaming in Group A, while C9 is with Team oNe eSports and LG Dire Wolves in Group B.
In Group C, Fnatic is with Young Generation and Kaos Latin Gamers, while HK Attitude is with 1907 Fenerbahce and Rampage.
This initial group stage will be a single round robin, with the leaders playing the runners-up in a cross group best-of-five elimination, to see who will get a spot in the second group stage.

Mineski starts off season with win in PGL Bucharest SEA qualifier
The new-look Mineski showed off its new-found strength as it dominated the Southeast Asia qualifier for the PGL Open Bucharest, the first Minor event of the young season.
Mineski, which acquired veterans iceiceice and Jabz from the now-disbanded Team Faceless, stunned Execration 2-0 in the final of the qualifiers, ending the latter’s unbeaten run in the tournament.
In the South America qualifiers, Digital Chaos’ arm in the continent won the spot in Bucharest after downing the Cinderella team of the competition Infamous.Young 2-0. Infamous.Young stunned its sister team Infamous in the previous round.
DC.SA in UB Finals in SL i-League Invitational 3 SA qualifiers
Digital Chaos.South America is two series wins away from grabbing a second Dota 2 Minor spot as it reached the upper bracket final of the StarLadder I-League Invitational 3 South America qualifier.
In the virtual semi-final, DC.SA, which defeated Furia Jovem and Infamous in the past two rounds, will be against Luccini, which opened its campaign with a 2-1 win over Midas.Victory and a 2-1 win over SG e-sports.
In the South East Asia qualifiers, Mineski and Execration are set to collide in the winner’s bracket final for a spot in the grand finals.

North devours competition, lifts cup at DreamHack Montreal 2017
North might have had a few hiccups here and there but they displayed championship poise when it mattered as they went on to lift the cup at the DreamHack Montreal 2017 with an immaculate record.
The Danish squad opened its campaign with a 16-4 thriller over Latin squad Gale Force Esports then followed it with a narrow 16-11 win over Kinguin.
In the cross-group playoff, North made short work of Cloud 9 in Train 16-6 before sealing the win and the spot in the final with a 16-11 victory at Cobblestone.
North had an easier time in the final, since it got a default win over the Immortals, which did not show up in time for the ultimate round.
But the doubts regarding whether North truly deserved the 1-0 advantage got erased when it destroyed Immortals 11-4 in the first half of Cobblestone, and went on to win the map 16-9.
The Danes went home richer by $50,000, while IMT pocketed $20,000. Semifinalists C9 and Counter Logic Gaming took home $10,000 apiece.

EnVision shows who’s boss at DreamHack Montreal 2017
EnVision Esports proved their supremacy in Canada in dominant fashion as it finished the competition unbeaten to win the DreamHack Montreal 2017 championship.
EnVision kept an immaculate record throughout the tournament, including a 3-0 sweep of Mirage Sports Electronique in the final.
EnVision swept Group B to earn a first round bye in the playoffs, where they destroyed Sailor Scouts 2-0 in the quarterfinal, thumped We Rise 2-0 in the semis before thrashing the previously undefeated Chiefs Gaming 3-0 in the upper bracket final.
Mirage, who lost to EnVision in the group stages, beat Chiefs 3-1 in the lower bracket final to set a date with EnVision, but EnVision just repeated its destruction of Mirage to win the whole competition without a loss.
