DWG KIA have finally ended their losing streak in the 222 LCK Summer Split after registering a 2-0 sweeping victory over Kwangdong Freecs.

This is a good development for a team whose performance in the League of Legends series have not been the best.

From this, Freecs have thrown away their advantage while DWG created winning opportunities in matches.

Both teams thread with caution in game one as they decided to play safely, with the focus being on securing map objectives rather than kills.

DWG drew the first blood in the 17th minute while fighting over the third Drake.

The Freecs never relented as they were able to mount pressure onto DWG until deokdam’s Sivir popped off after getting the three crucial items. In the teamfight, he dealt huge damage to the enemy champions to build up an impressive 8/0/6 KDA by the time DWG secured the match.

In game two, both teams changed gears and played aggressively. This led to many successful ambushes by the junglers from both sides during the first half of the match as the teamfights became chaotic from mid-game.

Freecs begin to punish DWG for their mistakes after forcing teamfights.

The Freecs almost reached the nexus, but poor teamwork let them down. Teddy’s Sivir was doing the heavy lifting and carrying the game while they pulled back, giving DWG some breathing space.

DWG then focused mainly on hunting down Teddy’s Sivir, and a beautiful Dragon’s Rage kick from Canyon’s Lee Sin gave them the opportunity.

With this, DWG were able to record an unbelievable comeback to take down game two and sweep the series 2-0.

Although DWG KIA were not clinical, they will be happy to bounce back from their losing streak with this victory.

Before the playoffs, the team will be tested in their last group stage match against T1 on 13 August at 6 am CT.

Kwangdong Freecs would have made it to the playoff if they had won the series. They will be blaming themselves for the lack of cohesion and hesitation that cost them the series.

Having failed to qualify for the playoffs, all they have to play for is just honour in their last match in the 2022 LCK Summer Split against Nongshin RedForce next on 14 August at 6 am CT.
