TI 6 Team Preview: compLexity Gaming

compLexity Gaming have had their current roster since last Autumn, but a year ago the team were on the verge of disbanding after their strong performance at TI 5 (9-12^th) when David “MoonMeander” Tan and Tal “Fly” Aizik left the team.

The empty slots were filled by Peter “wayto” Nguyen and Michael “MJW” Nguyen, but they departed soon after, unable to help the team get any better. It was the addition of former Ninjas in Pyjamas players Rasmus “Chessie” Blomdin, Linus “Limmp” Blomdin and Simon “Handsken” Haag in late November 2015 that helped the team create the necessary chemistry to succeed further on the international Dota 2 stage.

compLexity have had a year of ups and downs but for a short period in May, they were the most impressive team in the NA region. Further highlights included the Shanghai Major, where the team managed to land 5-6^th spot, eliminating teams such as Alliance and LGD in the process. They also secured 4^th place at EPICENTER in Moscow.

However, their most recent performances have not been as impressive. They finished in the bottom two spots during the latest StarLadder and 5-6^th at ESL One Frankfurt. In an attempt to improve, they have signed statistician and game caster Alan “Nahaz” Bester, but his influence is yet to be seen. To qualify for the TI 6 Main Event, the team will have to fight for a spot against Escape Gaming, EHOME and Execration in the Wild Card round.

Swindlezz is the heart and the soul of the team, a passionate player who has passed on his “no fear” mentality to his teammates. Playing as an Offlaner, so far he has given his best performances with Dark Seer and Tidehunter.

His brother Zfreek is the most consistent member of the team. His Earth Spirit rarely fails to make an impact on the game, with a good rotation for a gank or a team fight making space for his carries to farm.

Swindlezz generally picks heroes with whom the team are comfortable, but experimental lineups are quite typical, with compLexity often successful with experimentation in best-of-one encounters.

Limmp and Chessie take care of carrying the team, but the latter hasn’t been playing at his best for the last couple of months. Even when given space, he seems underfarmed on occasions and if the team want to advance, they will have to resolve this issue.

compLexity will need to raise their individual performances and hope Nahaz can scrutinize their mistakes and alleviate them if they want to progress to the Main Event. However, if they hit their stride and start playing at their best, they have always had the potential to upset the top teams.

Unfortunately, coL is the first team to be eliminated in TI6, having been defeated by Execration in Game 2 of their matches. They now have the time and opportunity to train and improve their game plays if they want to qualify for the next Dota Major.
