Fnatic is one of the biggest esports organisations in the world and has been around for more than a decade now. In that time, the org has had players compete in numerous games and take home a ton of prize money in the process. The past couple of years, esports has grown enormously and a lot of new fans got introduced to the world of competitive video games. Since it’s almost impossible to keep up with each and every esport out there, we’ve gathered a list of some of Fnatic’s most influential players over the years. You might already know some of them, but if you’re a fan of Fnatic’s team in a particular game then you’re going to want to know more about these players. After all, there’s so much more background to the team than you can experience by only watching a single game. Let’s take a look!

Counter Strike

Long before MOBA’s got popular and CS:GO got released, there was Counter-Strike 1.6. The First Person Shooter was one of the most popular esports when the industry was still in its infancy and it’s also been responsible for the growth of Fnatic into the organisation that it is today. Those who watched the team compete from 2006 onwards, will often mention the same name when asked about their favorite memories of the era and that name, is Patrik “cArn” Sättermon.

Over the course of 6 years with Fnatic, cArn and the team played in upwards of 80 tournaments, securing an insane amount of first place finishes at big events like the Intel Extreme Masters and Dreamhack. Rarely did they finish a tournament outside the top 3 and all of this with cArn as their in-game leader and captain.

Today, Patrik is Chief Gaming Officer at Fnatic and translates his leadership skills into successful teams across multiple games.

League of Legends

As a true veteran in the League of Legends scene, Bora “Yellowstar” Kim is one the most celebrated players on the team. Yellowstar has been around since the very first season of the game and has made it to five out of six World Championships. In season three he joined Fnatic and transitioned from the AD Carry role to support.

It was in this role that he stood out as an excellent shot caller and leader of the team. His knowledge of the game and decisionmaking lead the team to the semifinals of the World Championship in the 2015 season.

After each season, rumors of Yellowstar’s retirement from the game start showing up online and if they turn out to be true at some point, it is almost certain that we’ll see Bora take on a leadership role in the industry.

Dota 2

Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung is a player who’s been the cornerstone of a new Dota team for so many times that it’s hard to count. However, no matter who his teammates are, Mushi always seems to find success, finishing 4th with Fnatic at The International this year for example.

While he has the reputation of making strange draft decisions that don’t fit the meta (but often work out), Mushi has proven to be someone you can count on to show up no matter what. As the highest earning Malaysian player Mushi will be at the head of a new Fnatic lineup for the 2017 season, looking to finally secure the Aegis at The International 7 next year.
