Over the weekend, thousands of gamers packed the SMX Convention Center to take part in what seem to be one of the fastest growing gaming events in the South East Asia region – the annual E-Sports and Gaming Summit in the Philippines.

Aside from the multitude of gamers, the sheer volume of interactive hosts, beautiful models, game designers, console technicians, helpful booth staff, merchandisers and cosplayers certainly spruced up the already lively and energetic ambiance of the event.

For 3 days everyone inside the halls of SMX were treated to the much evolved experience of gaming. From console to PC to mobile, almost everything that will appear in the near future of the gaming world was presented to those who attended.

NICE MAP

ESGS organizers knocked the layout of the event out of the park, as the positions of the booth made it easier for anyone to roam around the halls efficiently despite such a packed event.

The E-Sports booths like ESGS’ own and PLDT’s League of Legend tournament stages were grouped on one half of the hall, while the other side of the hall is for exhibitors which presented soon-to-be-released games like NBA 2K17, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Final Fantasy XV, Resident Evil 7, the Last Guardian, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Just Dance.

In the middle of hall were booths for merchandisers that offered a variety of products, from toys, shirts, costume and accessories to gaming gears like portable wi-fi, controllers and headphones.

GROWING

ESGS already provides a very festive and satisfactory feeling with its numerous and varied games throughout the halls, but the booths that showed the Summit’s real growth as an event were the stands devoted for exhibitors offering seminars, apprenticeship and even professional work in gaming and animation.

Serving as one gateway for aspiring artists and engineers to enter the gaming industry should be a rewarding feeling for ESGS, especially after such a successful event.

EAGER FOR MORE

We are sure that most, if not all, those who went to the event cannot wait for more summits like the ESGS.

Three days of trying out games and equipment while winning delightful treats, cosplaying, buying gears and toys at a discount and watching tournaments is just a fun way to spend a long weekend.

Here’s to hoping that the ESGS reach new heights next time, and maybe expand more to help improve the already growing gaming scene and industry in our region.
